We just recently completed a long camping trek to both Kanchenjunga N & S base camps using the services of Visit Himalaya Treks. The net? A BIG thumbs-up for Visit Himalaya – they did an absolutely brilliant job!
This was my 13th trek in Nepal, so I have a fair amount of experience with Nepal trekking agencies. Although I’ve never had a bad trek in Nepal, I certainly have had various “challenges” working with different trekking agencies (I’ve worked with quite a few). We had no such problems with Visit Himalaya — it’s not an overstatement to say that they performed perfectly in every regard.
As we were planning our custom itinerary, Himal (the owner of Visit Himalaya) was extremely knowledgeable, responsive and helpful. He is an honest, high-integrity individual with a tremendous amount of experience in the trekking industry (he started out as a porter and worked his way up). He shows real empathy for his staff and ensures that they are well prepared and outfitted for the trek (something that was important to us).
Every member of the staff on our trek was friendly and helpful. The team worked well together, and there were no conflicts of any kind. Our guide, Ishwar, was absolutely wonderful! He was super dedicated and amazingly organized, and ensured that all aspects of the trek ran smoothly. He was helpful but not oppressive, and a real pleasure to be with. He was, by far, the best guide that I’ve ever had on one of my treks!
Visit Himalaya Treks provided us with a wonderful trek at a very fair price. I look forward to using their services again in the future.
