16 Days Everest Base Camp Trek
Firstly, the trip begins with your arrival in Nepal at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Then, a scenic flight to Lukla takes you to the Himalayan Khumbu region. A short trek along the Dudh Koshi River takes you to Phakding before setting off to Namche Bazaar. Here, you can explore the rich Sherpa heritage along with surreal views of the Kongde and Thamserku ranges. As you resume the trek, you head to the Tengboche village. Further, you hug the trail alongside the Imja River to reach Dingboche. Here, you hike to local Nagarjun hill and enjoy the views of the surrounding Himalayas.

As the trek begins to enter the final leg of the trip, you begin to head north towards Thukla village. Following the ascending trail, you trek to Lobuche village and trek to the top of the Lobuche Pass. Then, you trek along the Khumbu Glacier to reach Gorakshep. From here, you continue to the Everest Base Camp as you relish the views of the Mt. Everest (8848m). Next, you hike to the Kalapatthar viewpoint and enjoy the sunrise views over the Everest ranges. Now, you begin the return trip and descend along the Imja and Dudh Koshi rivers. Finally, a flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla concludes the trek.

The 16 days EBC trek has plenty of difficult sections. However, there is enough time to acclimatize also. Moreover, the trekkers should have a good physical condition to do the trek. Day 01 - Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu
As you arrive in Kathmandu, our company representatives will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport then transfer to Hotel stay overnight at Hotel Breakfast Included.
Day 02 - Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (2640m/8699ft) Walking Distance - 8 km, Duration: 3 hours
After breakfast, you’ll head to the Tribhuvan International Airport and fly to Lukla. The flight offers mesmerizing views of the Himalayas and the diverse landscapes of Nepal. You take a break after you land in Lukla and start the trek towards Phakding. You walk on the stone-paved trails and notice Lukla vanishing from sight. You’ll see many rocks painted with the Buddhist prayers on the trail. After walking a couple of hours, you’ll reach Phakding in the Dudh Koshi river valley. Night stay in Phakding. Day 03 - Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m/11283) Walking Distance - 10 to 12 km, Duration: 6 hours
Today, your goal is to reach Namche Bazaar from Phakding. After an early breakfast, you leave Phakding and after a short walk, cross the Dudh Koshi River and head towards Namche Bazaar. Next, you pass Monjo village before you enter Sagarmatha National Park. You cross numerous suspension bridges covered with prayer flags and streams on the way. Unlike other villages, Namche Bazaar is busy and crowded as it is the main acclimatization point and junction for the trekkers. Night stay in Namche Bazaar. Day 04 - Acclimatization Day – Hike to Everest View Hotel (3,962m/12995ft) Walking Distance - 3 to 4 km, Duration: 3 to 4 hours
You spend a day in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. Before trekking higher, you need to adjust your body with the thinning air. Instead of staying in the hotel room, you roam around Namche Bazaar and enjoy the view of surrounding areas. You visit the Everest View hotel and enjoy a nice view of Mount Everest in the morning. Other places you can visit are the Khunde and Khumjung villages. You can also visit the museum and monasteries in Namche Bazaar. Night stay in Namche Bazaar. Trekking distance: 5 km Meals Included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner Highlights of the Day: Everest View hotel, Hike to Sherpa villages like Khumjung and Khunde
Day 05 - Namche to Tengboche (3860m/12660ft) Walking Distance – 6 to 7 km, Duration: 5 hours
The next day, you head towards Tengboche after breakfast early morning. You walk along the stone trails along the hillsides. As you head further, you see the trails that take you further towards Tengboche. You'll see many chortens and prayer flags throughout the way. After a short ascent, you'll reach Tengboche. You can visit the Tengboche monastery which is the biggest in the Khumbu region. Night stay in Tengboche. Day 06 - Tengboche to Dingboche (4410m/14464ft) Walking Distance - 11 to 12 km, Duration: 5 hours
You’ll start with a descent from Dingboche and meet the Imja river. You cross the bridge over the river and continue on the trail. Then, you’ll ascend gradually chasing the trail that takes you to Pangboche. After a short break, you continue towards Dingboche. Dingboche is a farming area of the local Sherpas, so you’ll see farms and fields as you reach Dingboche. Night stay in Dingboche. Trekking distance: 10.5 km Meals Included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner Highlights of the Day: explore the Pangboche Monastery, close view of Mt. Ama Dablam, fields and farmlands
Day 07 - Acclimatization Day- Hike to Nagarjun hill and return: Walking Distance - 5 to 6 km, Duration: 4 to 5 hours
Today, you'll acclimatize once more and hike to the Nagarjun hill. It is also known as the Nangkartshang peak and is right above Dingboche. The climb takes around 2 hours and the whole hike is done in 5 hours. You get beautiful views of Lhotse (8,516m), Mt. Makalu (8,463m), Cho Oyu (8,201m), Ama Dablam (6,812m), Kangtega (6,782m), Thamserku (6,623m), Taboche (6,367m), Cholatse (6,440m), and Island Peak (6,189m), etc. from the top. Imja river glacier can also be seen from the top of Nagarjun hill. You retrace your way back to Dingboche and prepare for the next day trek. Night stay in Dingboche. Trekking distance: 6 km Meals Included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner Highlights of the Day: hike to Nagarjun hill, view of Ama Dablam, Kangtega and more, view of Pheriche and Imja River
Day 08 - Dingboche to Lobuche (4910m/16105ft) Walking Distance - 11 to 12 km, Duration: 5 hours
On this day, you’ll walk towards Pheriche where you rest for some time. Next, you trek towards Thukla walking along the wide trails. Lastly, you cross a bridge and reach Thukla. After Thukla village, you cross the Thukla pass and head towards Lobuche. The final part of the trek ascends to reach Lobuche. Lobuche isn’t a big village so, there are few hotels and lodges where you can stay. Night stay in Lobuche. Trekking distance: 11 km Meals Included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner Highlights of the Day: Views of the Himalayas like the Mt. Everest (8848), Nuptse (7861m), and Lingtren (6749m)
Day 09 - Lobuche to Gorakshep (5140m/16990ft) - Everest Base Camp (5364m/17594ft) and back to Gorakshep, Walking Distance - 14 to 15 km, Duration- 8 hours
On this day, you trek to Everest Base Camp from Lobuche. First, you head to Gorakshep where you'll have your lunch and take some rest. Then, you continue through the trail towards Everest Base Camp. You come across a trail that goes to the old base camp on the way to Everest Base Camp. You'll see that the base camp is covered with colored tents and prayer flags that contrast the snowy background of the Himalayas. You also get magnificent panoramic views of mountains like Pumo Ri (7165m) and Khumbutse (6623m). You'll get a close view of Khumbu Icefall from the base camp. You'll then return to Gorakshep after a short period. Night stay in Gorakshep. Trekking distance: 14 km Meals Included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner Highlights of the Day: view of Mt. Everest along with Pumo Ri, Khumbutse, Nuptse and others, close view of Khumbu befall
Day 10 – Gorakshep - Kalapatthar (5545m/11283ft) then trek back to Lobuche (4910 meters/16105ft), 12-13 Km, 6 hours.
Early morning, you hike to the Kalapatthar viewpoint to relish the sunrise and the views of the Everest Himalayas. You start early when it is still dark and after a couple of hours, you’ll reach Kalapatthar. The view of sunrise over the mountains like Mt. Everest (8848m), Nuptse (7861m), and Lhotse (8516m) is simply amazing. After you’re done watching the view, you return to Gorakshep. You have breakfast and then you trek back to Lobuche. Night stay in Lobuche. Trekking distance: 13 km Meals Included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner Highlights of the Day: an up-close view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Pumo Ri, Ama Dablam, and many other Himalayas, view of Beautiful sunrise
Day 11- Trek from Lobuche to Tengboche (4410m/14464ft), 5-6 Hrs hours
After breakfast, you leave Pheriche and head towards Tengboche. You go slowly visiting the Sherpa villages and watching their daily life. You stop in Dingboche for lunch and then head towards Pangboche. You visit the monastery in Pangboche and then start walking towards Tengboche. You cross the Imja River and climb uphill to reach Tengboche. Once more, you can explore the small settlement and the Tengboche monastery. Night stay in Tengboche. Trekking distance: 8 km Meals Included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner Highlights of the Day: view of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, and many other Himalayas, Tengboche monastery
Day 12 – Trek Tengboche to Namche (3440m/11283), Duration- 4-5 hours
Continuing your return journey, you trek down slowly enjoying the views and surroundings. On this day too, you pass many Sherpa villages and rest in some villages. You reach stone trails that take you down to Namche Bazaar. You can celebrate and enjoy the restaurants in Namche Bazaar. Night stay in Namche Bazaar. Trekking distance: 6 km Meals Included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner Highlights of the Day: exploring the Sherpa villages and knowing their lifestyle and cultures, Monasteries on the way, Dudh Koshi river
Day 13 - Namche to Lukla (2800m/9184ft) Walking Distance - 18 to 19 km, Duration - 7 hours
You end the last day of your trek by heading towards Lukla from Namche Bazaar. You walk through the rhododendron and pine forests in Sagarmatha National Park. You may witness some wild mountain animals in the National Park. You check out from the National Park and then head to Phakding via Monjo village. You’ll see many Mani walls, prayer flags, and prayer stones on the way to Lukla. Night stay in Lukla. Day 14 - Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu
Early morning after breakfast, you attend your scheduled flight to Kathmandu. You can take rest or you can visit some places in Kathmandu after lunch. You can visit Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, and Boudhanath that are famous in the Kathmandu valley. If time permits, you can also enjoy the amenities in the hotel or opt to head to the wellness centers. Night stay in Kathmandu. Meals Included: Breakfast/ Lunch. Day 15 - Reserve day in Kathmandu
This day is separated for the delay in flights or some other unintentional situations. If you’re already in Kathmandu, you can go to Nagarkot or any nearby places in Kathmandu for a day. You can also hire a local guide and take a tour of Kathmandu valley. Night stay in Kathmandu. Meals Included: Breakfast. Highlights of the Day: visit the world heritage sites around Kathmandu and evening cultural dinner.
Day 16 - Departure
After breakfast, you'll drive to Tribhuvan International Airport to get on your return flight.
