13 Days Everest Base Camp Trek – Exploring the famous trails in the Sagarmatha National Park, EBC Trek heads to the foot of the Mt. Everest (8848m). Also, the 13 Days Everest Base Camp Trek offers all the gorgeous attractions of the region along with the towering Himalayas. Along with mountains like Cho Oyu (8201m), Lhotse (8516m), and Nuptse (7861m), trekkers can enjoy many other attractions as well. Moreover, it is also one of the shorter treks that conclude at the base camp of Mt. Everest.

Firstly, the 13 day Everest Base Camp Trek begins with a flight to Lukla. Also, Lukla hosts one of the most dangerous airports in the world. Then, you begin the trek to Namche Bazaar and enter the Sagarmatha National Park. Here, you explore the village and visit some famous cultural landmarks around the region. Then, you continue east towards Tengboche village which is also home to the Tengboche Monastery. Further, you head to Dingboche as you relish the views of the Mt. Ama Dablam (6856m). The trek passes Thugla village and reaches Lobuche.

As the trek crosses the 5000-meter mark, you will begin to trek across the Khumbu Glacier. Next, you will trek past the Gorakshep Lake and head east towards the Everest Base Camp. Here, you can enjoy the views of Khumbu Glacier, Icefall, and mountains like Nuptse (7861m) and Pumo Ri (7165m). Finally, you hike to the Kalapatthar viewpoint and enjoy the views of the Mt. Everest and many other surrounding mountains. The return trek begins as you head back to Namche Bazaar. You continue to trek along the Dudh Koshi River and heads to Kathmandu on a scenic flight.

It is a trek with moderate difficulty so, trekkers should be in a good physical condition. Also, spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons are the best times for the trek. Day 01:

Day 08: Trek to Gorakshep (5,140m) Lunch then trek to Everest base camp (5,364 m) back to Gorakshep- 5,140 m– 08 hrs.
Day 09: Hike to Kalapatthar (5,545 m) Everest Sunrise view then Trek back to Pheriche -4,210m, 06 hrs.
Day 10: Trek back to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 06 hours.
Day 11: Trek back to Lukla (2,800 m) 6-7 hrs
Day 12: Morning fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.

13 Days Everest Base Camp Trek Detail Itinerary,

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel| 1,300 m
As you arrive in Kathmandu, our company representatives will meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer to Hotel Night stay in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla- (35 Minute) Hike to Phakding, 3 hrs |2,640 m
You’ll have your breakfast and head to the Tribhuvan International Airport to catch your scheduled flight to Lukla. The flight takes approximately 35 minutes and offers views of the landscapes including green hills, rivers, and the glorious Himalayas. Next, you start your trek towards Phakding from Lukla. You’ll see many rocks painted and carved with the Buddhist prayers on the trail. After walking for a couple of hours, you’ll reach Phakding in the Dudh Koshi river valley. Night stay in Phakding.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar. 3,440m- 6 hrs
After a warm early breakfast, you head out from Phakding and cross the Dudh Koshi River as you start towards Namche Bazaar. This day’s trek is a bit more challenging than the previous day as you have to climb uphill. Next, you reach Monjo village before you get to the entry point of Sagarmatha National Park. As you get near to Namche Bazaar, the trail gets steeper. After nearly 6 hours, you get to Namche Bazaar where you spend the night.

Highlights of the Day: explore the Sagarmatha National park, small Sherpa settlements, stupas, chortens, rhododendron and pine forests

Day 04: Free day- Acclimation in Namche Bazaar
You spend a day in Namche Bazaar to get used to the atmosphere there. Before heading further, you need to adjust your body with the thinning air and changing climate. To spend the day, visit Namche View point, Museum and visit the Everest View hotel and have a nice view of Mount Everest (8848m) in the morning. Other places you can visit are the Khumjung and Khunde villages. Night stay in Namche Bazaar.

Day 05: Trek to Tengboche, 3,860m – 05 hrs.
After breakfast, you head towards Tengboche after a nice breakfast early morning. The trail is flat and easy-going as you leave Namche Bazaar. You’ll reach Sanasa which is a junction that separates the trails to the Gokyo valley and Everest Base Camp. Continuing along the Dudh Koshi River, the ascending to Tengboche. You visit the Tengboche monastery and spend the night there. Night stay in Tengboche.

Highlights of the Day: prayer flags and stones, stupas and chortens, views of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam and Tyangboche monastery.

Day 06: Trek to Dingboche 4,410 m – 05 hrs.
After breakfast, our trek destination for today is Dingboche,  Walking forest of rhododendrons, lead us to dibuche and crossing the river and ascend gradually that takes you to Pangboche. You get nice views of snow-capped mountains including a close view of Mt. Ama Dablam (6856m). You can visit the Pangboche monastery and continue your journey to Dingboche.

Day 07: Trek to Lobuche 4,910m – 05 hrs.
This day, you head to the last stop before Everest Base camp. You start with an ascent along the Khumbu river valley towards Thukla. The trails are open and you get nice views of the surrounding. You come across Thukla pass after quite a bit climb, On top of thukla Pass many mountaineer memories who died and lost in Everest and other mountain during their climbing trip. Also, from thukla pass 360 degrees views can be observed. Walking along the valley lead us to small settlements to Lobuche stay overnight at Lobuche.

Day 08: Trek to Gorakshep (5,140m) Lunch then trek to Everest base camp (5,364 m) back to Gorakshep- 5,140 m– 08 hrs.
Finally, you’ll head to the Everest Base camp this day. First, you head to Gorakshep where you’ll stop for your lunch. Then, you continue through the snowy trails towards Everest Base Camp. The colored tents give a unique image with the black and white landscape. You get a panoramic view of snow-capped mountains like Nuptse (7861m), Pumo Ri (7165m), Khumbutse (6608m) and more. You can also get a close view of Khumbu Icefall from the base camp. Later, you return to Gorakshep after for the night stay.

Day 09: Hike to Kalapatthar (5,545 m) Everest Sunrise view then Trek back to Pheriche -4,210m, 06 hrs.
On this day, you hike to Kalapatthar to view the sunrise and the majestic close views of Himalayas. You start early before sunrise and after a couple of hours, you’ll reach the famous viewpoint of Kalapatthar. The view of sunrise is mesmerizing over the mountains like the Mt. Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8516m). Nuptse (7861m), and Ama Dablam (6856m) among other mountains. After enjoying the view, you return to Gorakshep, have breakfast, and retrace your path towards Pheriche. Night stay in Pheriche.

Day 10: Trek back to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 06 hours.
As your return journey begins, you trek down slowly enjoying the views and surroundings. You walk down to Somare and then continue towards Pangboche. You cross the Imja River and climb towards Tengboche. You rest for some time at Tengboche. Continue walking down hill to Dudh Koshi River and climb to Kyangjuma continue to Namche Bazaar. Night stay in Namche Bazaar.

Trekking distance: 15 km

Day 11: Trek back to Lukla (2,800 m) 6-7 hrs
On the last day of your trek, you head to Lukla from Namche Bazaar. You walk through the rhododendron and pine forests in the Sagarmatha National Park. You check out from the National Park and then head to Phakding. This day, you explore some of the Sherpa villages on the way and enjoy some time with the locals there. You can roam around Lukla and enjoy in the restaurant. Night stay in Lukla.

Day 12: Morning fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.
Early morning after breakfast, you attend your scheduled flight to Kathmandu. If you want to visit some places in Kathmandu, you can hire a local guide and visit heritage sites in Kathmandu after lunch. You can visit Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, and Boudhanath. If time permits, you can visit the durbar squares in Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur. Night stay in Kathmandu.

Day 13: International departure.
Lastly, you’ll have a farewell breakfast and you’ll drive to Tribhuvan International Airport to attend your flight. You can stay a few more days if you plan to take a tour around the valley.
